We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Hopefully you followed the link from our Christmas card and ventured over here to our blog!  Those photo cards just don't give you much space to write...

Instead of waiting until the first of December to try and remember what we did all year to draft a Christmas letter, we thought we would start a family blog - our goal is to post once or twice a month just to let you know what we've been up to.  Most of the posts are picture-heavy, so if they look long, don't panic - there's not too much reading here.

Enjoy!

Annual Cookie Exchange

Here is a picture to make your mouth water!  Every year, the women on my dad's side of the family get together before Christmas to do a cookie exchange.  About 10ish years ago we started getting together for lunch and shopping, but as the group started to grow... it just wasn't as feasible.  About 5ish years ago we started gathering for a cookie exchange.  It's such a fun day!

The Pumpkin Patch!

A couple of weeks ago we went to the pumpkin patch - it just took me this long to get the pictures off the camera... For pumpkin patch fun, we went to Fir Point Farms out in Canby. I went here frequently as a kid and there is lots to do for all ages. We had fresh apple cider and cinnamon sugar donuts - yum! We fed the goats, watched chickens and cows, got lost in the corn maze and went on a hayride. Here are some pictures from our trip, and a video of Grady feeding some goats.

Our "little turkey"!

Forget the pumpkin... this dirt looks like fun!

I can't believe it's November already... basketball is just around the corner! Keith and Grady are getting an early start on the season by putting together these instructional videos for all you ballers out there.

GO DUCKS!

Grady's first live Duck football game was Saturday, September 26th against the #6 California Bears... the Ducks won 42-3!

Apparently it wasn't quite exciting enough to keep Grady awake... he fell asleep at the beginning of the 2nd quarter and slept all the way through the end of the 3rd quarter!

Thanks to Aunt Kim for securing the tickets for us!

Recap of Summer 2009

Last summer Grady was in just his first few days, weeks and months of life, so it was fun to experience things with him this year!

We kicked off summer with our annual camping trip to Lake Billy Chinook at the end of July. This was probably the first camping trip we've taken Grady on where he was actually somewhat cognizant of what was going on. We hiked up the Tum-a-lau trail that takes you to the rim of the canyon. What a view! Grady couldn't quite make it to the top without a little nap.

I think the highlights for Grady were getting to "drive" the boat and spending lots of time just sitting in the dirt, stirring it around with his hands.

For the few days prior to the camping trip, we also went all the way over to John Day to spend a couple of days with Great Grandma Mary. Grady had a blast there, getting to go on his first horse ride!

On the 4th of July, he witnessed his first fireworks. I think he was confused about what has happening for the first 20 minutes, then he started to cry!

At the end of July, I (Molly) went to Dallas, TX for Mary Kay Seminar - our annual sales meeting / awards / recognition celebration. Although a little blurry, here is a picture of me next to a pink cadillac :).

In July, Keith also worked the grass harvest in St. Paul - driving a tractor for 10 hours a day for a couple of weeks. Grady and I went out once to ride along - but we forgot to take pictures. Bummer!

We had just a few days of down time after the harvest before we started our house painting project - from blah gray to a warm tan - the house pops into view as you drive down our street! As a matter of fact, we are STILL working on this project but we are close to being finished. In addition to painting the body of the house tan, we changed the trim to a creamy white, and we are adding dark brown accents to the house. Keith also re-stained the back deck to match the dark brown accents. We are hoping to at least finish the accents on the two street-facing sides of the house, as well as get barkdust in before the hard weather hits. Here is a little before and after picture of the front - although the "after" isn't completely finished.

At the end of August, Keith and I spent a night at the Inn at Spanish Head to celebrate our anniversary - which was in June. We ate lots of (good) food, walked on the beach and went shopping. We didn't know what to do without Grady - so we ended up spending a lot of time just relaxing!
